Urikal Oral Solution is a prescription medication that is used to treat and prevent kidney stones. It works by making the urine less acidic, which helps to prevent the formation of stones. Urikal Oral Solution is also used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) and to treat acidosis caused by kidney disease.
Specifications
Each 5 mL of Urikal Oral Solution contains:
- Potassium Citrate BP 1500 mg
- Citric Acid Monohydrate BP 250 mg
Usage
Urikal Oral Solution is taken by mouth. The usual dosage is 10 mL to 15 mL, diluted with water, 4 times daily. The dosage may be adjusted by your doctor depending on your individual needs.
Contraindications
Do not take Urikal Oral Solution if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should also not take Urikal Oral Solution if you have a kidney disorder that causes you to retain potassium.
Indications
Urikal Oral Solution is indicated for the following conditions:
- Prevention and treatment of kidney stones
- Treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Treatment of acidosis caused by kidney disease
- Prevention of gout
Warnings
Take Urikal Oral Solution with caution if you have any of the following conditions:
- Heart disease
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
- Diabetes
- Stomach ulcers
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Gout
Restrictions
Urikal Oral Solution should not be taken by pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should also not be taken by children under the age of 6 years.
If you experience any of the following side effects after taking Urikal Oral Solution, stop taking the medication and contact your doctor immediately:
- Severe diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Stomach pain
- Muscle cramps
- Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Difficulty breathing
- Rash
- Hives
